We’re getting close! Somehow 8 more weeks seems both really short and really long!
All posts in baby sutton
In April, we celebrated Maggie’s half birthday (she doesn’t really get that yet but any excuse for a cupcake is a good enough reason for her!)
Maggie at 3.5 is exciting!
Right now, Maggie….
Loves to snack
No longer eats dairy (it “hurts her tummy”)
Has stopped napping for the most part
Is incredibly excited about her baby sister and talks to her already
Loves to play with her friends, her dolls/stuffed animals,
Loves to swim and is confident!
Can be very particular about what she wears
Is still obsessed with Sofia the First (its the best when she sings along in the car, her favorite song is “Anything”)
Things “anything” means nothing (ie if I ask her what she’s doing she says, “Anything”.)
Gets really sad and upset when she thinks she’s in trouble
Loves to paint
Loves to watch shows
Loves to go out and to help Mommy get ready and dressed up
Is super excited about her new umbrella and clock
Has recently started asking for a bicycle
Loves to try the (finally fixed) red truck with her friends in the cul-de-sac
Loves to buckle in her babies as well as herself! (new skill!)
Loves to talk about things she’ll do for the baby
Doesn’t wear her princess dresses nearly as often
Dresses up in accessories (princess shoes, sunglasses on her head, fan, headband)
Can be very moody in the morning (or any time of day…)
I recently asked Maggie some questions:
What is your favorite thing to eat?: Cereal (eating it while I asked)
What is your favorite show?: Sofia
What is your favorite thing to do with Jackson?: Run around
What is your favorite thing to do with daddy?: Play
Mommy?: Play with you
What do you think about having a baby sister?: Love her
What do you want to do at the beach?: Be with you and the baby
“I like playing with my baby sister and doing stuff with her.”
Fave color?: Yellow
Fave thing to wear?: Dresses
What do you like to do with your friends?: Play with them (and play with baby sister, she likes this cereal right?)
“Im going to play with my baby sister when she pops out of your tummy. Im going to play with her and help you change her clothes. We can put some cozy pajamas on her. I can hold her when she pops out like this. She’s gonna love that . She’s gonna love me. She’s gonna love her mommy her brother and her dad. She doesn’t know who holly is. I know holly but the baby doesn’t. I tell her who her is. Ill tell her right now”.
Maggie girl, we love you and can’t wait to see how you keep growing and changing (and staying the same too). The next few months are going to be exciting for sure!
We are over halfway through our wait to meet you! As of Wednesday, the pregnancy is 24 weeks along. Even as I type this I can feel you wiggling and jumping in my tummy. I never get used to it; it’s always exciting to feel you move. I felt a little sick at the very beginning with you, for about 3 weeks. But since then I have felt pretty good! Sometimes I don’t sleep so great (but that is mostly due to your big sister waking up so much!). For a while I wanted to eat tacos pretty much everyday. Then I wanted asian food. I have LOVED salt and vinegar chips and mustard for the whole pregnancy so far. At the 17 week ultrasound I had to get up and move so much to get you to move around; it was really funny.
Your name, Willa, is one that I had never heard of until recently but your dad and I agreed, as he put it, that it just sounded like your name. He said, “it resonates”. (We’re still working on your middle name.)
You have a big brother and sister who could not be more excited about you. Seriously. I don’t think there was ever a pair of siblings more thrilled to have a new baby in the family.
I’ve started to think about planning your room and getting it all ready. I have a feeling that this summer is going to fly by and you will be with us before we know it.
This month, Jackson turned 8!
8. years.old. Halfway to driving!
That feels like a big number. I think I say that every year with my first born. We celebrated your birthday with cousins, friends, bowling and arcade time. It was a blast.
Once again, you have majorly impressed us with your adaptability. After an amazingly long and exciting summer, you started a second grade at a new school in September, and you were so brave about it. You played soccer again this spring and fall, and you always have so much fun playing. You started basketball for the first time and once again, we are impressed by how excited you are to try to new things. You are doing well in school. You say Math is your favorite but you really seem most excited about learning about history and ancient civilizations. You are getting more into art, sometimes you’ll draw (tonight you drew the millenium falcon) and you colored with Maggie. You still love to be outside with our neighbors, playing your nintendo switch (which you earned through summer reading). I love when we get to have alone time. Jackson, you are kind, silly, forgiving, serving, and shy. You wake up early on the weekends and take care of your sister so your parents can sleep in a little. You like to wake up at 6:30 on school mornings so that you can have “slow mornings”. You are very sweet to enthusiastically compliment your mom’s cooking. You really are so fun. Today I had an idea for another spot for the Christmas tree and you insisted that we put it in the same corner because of “traditions”! You love decorating the house with me for holidays. You’re enthusiastic and you care about people. You’re the best brother, ever. Ever.
Going to Daddy’s office
Cooking with Me (I really need to more often)
Hanging out with your cousins
Playing in the cul-de-sac with neighbors
Blaze Pizza (half sauce, half cheese, double the mushrooms)
Sleeping with your fan on (no matter how cold it is)
Doughnuts (and all things sugar)
Hugging your family
Chicken pot pie
Reading together at bedtime
Going on walks together
You don’t like:
(this list is much shorter)
Big groups of people you don’t know
Buddy, you are one loved guy. Can’t wait to see everything this year has in store for you. We are beyond grateful to be your parents.
In October, our Maggie turned three.
I want to try and capture a picture of what you are like right now. This will be tough. You and Jackson are so awesome and interesting, I know its impossible to try and remember everything about you but I’m going to try!
You are so much fun. A few months ago you discovered Sofia the first and have been in princess mode ever since. You like to wear princes dresses as much as you can, and I let you wear them almost anywhere. You continue to LOVE all things baby. You are so sweet and gentle with actual babies. You’ve grown up a lot in the last couple of months. In September you stopped using diapers and in October you stopped using pacis (this is a big deal)! You had the idea to put all of your pacis in a gift bag to send to a baby who needs them. You are such a big girl and you love reminding us of that and doing things “all by yourself”. You love playing outside with your friends and school has been really fun this year (you go on Tuesday and Thursday mornings). You talk a lot and we love it; it is so fun. It seems like everyday you are surprising me with something you are saying. You’re theatrical. You take a while to fall asleep at night; you talk and sing and play in your crib for a while. You are very expressive. You like to paint pictures for specific people, especially Daddy. You are brave and confident and (mostly) independent. I think you and me are pretty similar which is super fun but a little tricky sometimes! You still take naps and you like puzzles.
We love you so much Maggie Grace! You are a precious blessing!
having your hair french braided (specifically in one elsa braid)
