3 months with Willa

Sweet Willa-girl, you are officially 3 months old today and also exactly 13 weeks old!

You’ve had an exciting third month of life.

  • We got your crib set up!
  • You went to the Life and Science Museum in Durham (our fave) for the first time on a rainy veteran’s day with your cousins.  Aunt Jean gave you a bottle.
  • You started playing more on your playmat, you like it a lot and just this past week or so you started being able to grab toys hanging from it.

  • You had your first trip to the ER.  That was definitely a day of excitement, sorry it wasn’t the fun kind.  Your eye looks almost completely better now!  We’re so surprised and thankful!
  • You’ve taken a couple of naps in Mommy and Daddy’s bed (don’t tell Jackson and Maggie).  You get endless affection from them of course.
  • We’ve gone to the gym a few times.
  • You went on a girl’s night dinner with Mommy, Jean, and E to celebrate Lucy’s birthday!
  • Of course, we celebrated your first Thanksgiving at Meme and Gdad’s!
  • You got to go to the Christmas Tree farm and help pick out your first tree!  By the way, you LOVE looking at the tree.
  • You smile more and more everyday.  You’ve given us some chuckles.
  • You’ve gone to Womble park, brrr!
  • And the big news is that you have slept all night in your crib the last two nights!  I missed you so much the first night and was worried so I slept with the video monitor right by my face.  You are a champion sleeper, my girl, thank you.
  • Sometimes you’re fussy in the evenings and want to eat a lot but given how you sleep at night thats fine by me!
  • You like when we read you books.
  • I don’t think you like being out in the cold.
  • You’re crying more in the car, but you’re in there a lot.  Sorry.

Can’t wait to celebrate your first Christmas with you this month.  You bring us all so much joy.

Two months with Willa

You’re officially two months old today, Willa girl.  You sleep so good.  You eat so good.  You’re still a little fussy in the evening and I’ve been putting you to bed earlier which is what you need.  You throw up kinda a lot.  You use paci’s but you don’t seem to have to have them.  You give us smiles (no laughs yet).  You talk to us.  We broke out the playmat the other day.

You’ve been wearing 3-6 month clothes since you were about 6 weeks old!  You still sleep in your rocker in our room at night and take naps in all kinds of places, your swing is your favorite though. You fall asleep pretty easily and stay asleep in your carrier.  You pretty much sleep whenever we are in the car, which is a good thing because we spend a lot of time in the car.

I took these pictures this morning while working on this post.  It is so sweet to me how your siblings are just as excited about you today as they were two months ago.

We’ve been busy!  I’m trying to remember everything we have been up to.  In your second month of life, you have celebrated your sister’s 4th birthday, visited with your family at E’s house in Raleigh, Jean’s house in Durham, and Pop and Memaw’s house in High Point (we’re coming for you this month Goldsboro!).

You have hungout in the cul-de-sac with your neighbors while your siblings play after school (they all love you of course).

You went to Ikea in Charlotte with Mommy and E.  You were a rockstar by the way, you basically slept the whole time.  Until we were almost home and then I sat on the floor of the van to hold in your paci while E drove 🙂

Your brother got his cast off this month and he was so excited to be able to do more for you and especially to hold you standing up!

You went to Pullen park for the first time.  You got to meet Uncle Jay and Aunt Terri!  You went on the train!  But we just watched the carousel this time.

Our sweet family organized a sip and see party for you (more on that later).  It was really special to celebrate you, sweet girl.

We switched your room.  It didn’t make sense for you to have the biggest room, sorry.  🙂  And we still don’t have the crib up!  Eek!

Now that it’s cooler outside we’ve been going to more parks.  Get ready girl, your mom loves being outside!

You had your first Halloween.  You didn’t wear a costume this year but you slept in your stroller (surprise! ha!) while we went trick or treating.

While your brother and sister are in school we run errands, go on coffee dates, and sometimes go back home for some quiet time.  I read a lot while you eat, I’ve read about five books since you were born!  You actually went to the library for the first time today.

You also went to the  gym for the first time this month!  Our friends at the gym were very excited to meet you, you took a nap in a swing while I worked out for just a bit (before I got hungry!).

Maggie calls you “Willoo” a lot.  You get lots of hugs and kisses of course.  You even had your first small case of the sniffles this month.

It has been really fun to work on this post with your brother and sister around.  I showed them their 2 month blog posts.  You are all such good gifts.

Jackson wanted to add the following:

“Willa is really nice and she is lots of fun.  And I love her.” – Love, Jack.

1 month with Willa

As always with parenting, time seems to simultaneously slow down and fly by.  One month has gone by already!  Just in the last few days she has changed, becoming more vocal, a little more awake, and has definitely smiled in response the last couple of days!  I feel like she has started holding onto me more when she’s on my shoulder.  She sleeps remarkably well.  We’ve had a couple nights of almost sleeping through the night!  Mostly, I wake up with her once a night.  Being the third, she practically lives in her carseat but goes along for the right (asleep mostly).

Willa-girl, we’re obsessed with you.
